Description
The Lady of the Isles ran aground near Lamorna in 1904. Harveys of Hayle built her as a steamer in 1875. At the time she worked both as the regular packet steamer between Scilly and Penzance, and on pleasure cruises on one of these trips she grazed a reef and, leaking, was run aground in Lamorna harbour. She was refloated and repaired, and sold to the Western Marine Salvage Company of Penzance, and from then on worked as a salvage steamer herself, assisting in many operations around the Cornish coast. After being requisitioned, she was sunk by a mine in 1940.
