Men’s race during the World Pilot Gig Championships held on the Isles of Scilly. Among the Cornish Pilot Gigs pictured are ‘Golden Gear’ built in 1998 by Ralph Bird of Devoran, ‘Avarack’ built in 2000 by Andrew Nancarrow of Bissoe, ‘Isambard’ built in 2007 by John Raymond-Barker of Bristol, ‘Faith’ built in 2008 by Louis & Maurice Hunkin of Fowey, ‘Jubilee’ built in 1997 by Jim & Dave Currah of Looe, ‘Samphire’ built in 1999 by Jim & Dave Currah, ‘Iron Maid’ built in 2006 by Brian Nobbs of Launceston, ‘Penarrow’ built in 2006, ‘Messack’ built in 2010 both also by Andrew Nancarrow, and ‘St Elvan’ built in 2002 by Ralph Bird of Devoran.
