Description

Cornish Pilot Gigs on the beach at St Mary’s. Among those pictured are 'Good Intent' built in 1975 by Tom Chudleigh of St Mary’s, named after a historic Newquay fish cellar, ‘Nornour’ built in 1971 by Gerald Pearn of Looe, ‘Serica’ built in 1967 by Tom Chudleigh of St Mary’s and ‘Bonnet’ built in 1830 by the Peters family of St Mawes. This was originally on the Isles of Scilly but was purchased by Newquay Club in 1953 and later loaned back to Scilly and in 1974 ‘Bonnet’ was sold back to the Islands. Also pictured are members of Newquay Rowing Club who were on their first ladies trip to the Isles of Scilly. From the left are Clive (Spider) Stephens, Rosemary Webb, Pam Mountford, Annabelle Pascoe, Gill Northey, Kerry Bicknell, and Julie Crantock.
