Description

Cornish Pilot Gigs racing in the Isles of Scilly. Among them are ‘Golden Eagle’ built in 1870 and ‘Bonnet’ built in 1830, ‘Newquay’ built in 1812, the oldest known Cornish Pilot Gig and 'Shah' built in 1873, all four by the Peters family of St Mawes. Also pictured are ‘Serica’ built in 1967 by Tom Chudleigh of St Mary’s, ‘Czar’ built in 1879 also by the Peters family of St Mawes, ‘Nornour’ built in 1971 by Gerald Pearn of Looe and ‘Dolphin’ built in 1968 also by Tom Chudleigh.
