Description

Cornish Pilot Gig 'Shah' built in 1873 by the Peters family of St Mawes. Pictured on St Agnes at the time when R H C Gillis, Tom Pryor and George Northey of the Newquay Club went to see several boats with a view to purchasing and restoring them. From left to right are Tom Pryor, George Northey, and three Trinity Pilots Jack Hicks, Freddie Cook Hicks and Dick Legg. The boat was purchased for £35, a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of rum and a bottle of sherry with a deal that if she was ever going to be sold, she had to go back to Scilly.
