Description

David George interviews Peter Chalkley Chairman of London Cornish Pilot Gig Club during the World Pilot Gig Championships. He says that they have had a lot of challenges both from the logistics of getting their boats to Scilly and the difference between rowing on the River Thames where the highest waves reach about six inches compared to the open sea. He talks about ‘exiled’ Cornish people living in London who come along to events organised by their Club and how they always go to support the Cornish Pirates rugby team whenever they are playing in the district.
