Description

Wreckage from the Khyber, washed ashore. The Khyber was a full-rigged ship, registered at Liverpool. She had sailed from near Melbourne, Australia, towards Cobh (Queenstown) Ireland for 138 days. A South-West gale wrecked her at Portloe, near Porthgwarra. She was completely destroyed, and 23 of her 26 crew were lost along with her cargo of wheat.
