Description

With beach tents in the foreground and Godrevy and tugs in the background, the SS Flowergate had been under tow to Britonferry in Wales but came loose and ran aground at Porthminster in June 1946. A confiscated steamer from Germany, she had been deliberately sunk as a blockship during the 1944 invasion of Normandy. She was towed off and resumed her final journey to the breakers yard at Britonferry.
