Description
With St Ives harbour and island in the background, the SS Flowergate had been under tow to Britonferry in Wales but came loose and ran aground at Porthminster in June 1946. A confiscated liner from Germany, she had been deliberately sunk as a blockship during the 1944 invasion of Normandy.
