The Penrose Road school football team who were winners of the Magpie Cup. Back row (l to r): Paul Treloar, Pat Williams, Tony Drew, Derek Wotton, Desmond Williams, Gary Howells, Dennis Wearne, David Caunter (Linesman). Front row (l to r): A.G. Harris (Headmaster), Brian Keverne, Michael Davies, Jocelyn Bray, James Evans, Keith Hocking, Harold Rickard (PE/ Maths Teacher). Helston County Secondary School was formerly known as Helston Secondary Modern School. In the sixties and early seventies the Penrose Road school was known locally as the ‘Green School’ because of its uniform of dark green and grey.
