Description

Cornish Pilot Gigs racing in the Isles of Scilly. Pictured are 'Dove' built 1820, ‘Golden Eagle’ built in 1870, ‘Bonnet’ built in 1830, ‘Newquay’ built in 1812, the oldest known Cornish Pilot Gig and 'Shah' built in 1873. All five were built by the Peters family of St Mawes. Also pictured are ‘Serica’ built in 1967 by Tom Chudleigh of St Mary’s and Nornour’ built in 1971 by Gerald Pearn of Looe.
