Description

Cornish Pilot Gigs including ‘Active’ built in 1974 by Tom Chudleigh of St Mary’s and ‘Newquay’ built in 1812 and ‘Dove’ built in 1820 by the Peters family of St Mawes, the oldest known Cornish Pilot Gig, taking part in a race for the ‘Atkinson Trophy’. This trophy was presented to Newquay Rowing Club in the 1960s by local jeweller, Jack Atkinson who was a keen supporter.
