Description
Steamship Bessie On 17 November 1893, the steamer Bessie ran aground at Carbis Bay,wrecked and sunk only 2 of her 3 masts are seen above the waves. It was not the first time she had made landfall unintentionally, but this time she was wrecked in a gale which also destroyed 4 other ships near St Ives. Bessie's crew were rescued by Breeches-buoy, pulled by the coastguard rocket team from the deck to the cliff..
