Description

David George interviews Caroline Heard and Janet Cave at the Newquay Cornish Pilot Gig Championships in September 2018. Caroline used to row for Fowey Cornish Pilot Gig Club and now both row for Falmouth. Brought up in Polruan, Caroline and her family were always involved with boats and she loved watching her Grandfather skulling. Janet started rowing with the Cornish Rowing Association in flash boats and tells of how she went to the Newquay Championships to row gigs with the much shorter oars than other competitors. They are both of the opinion that flash boat rowers make good gig rowers.
