MemoryFish
Morrab Library Fishing Collection
The Morrab Library, established in 1818, possesses a wonderful photographic archive covering the whole of Cornwall with particular specialism in the West Penwith area. Many hundreds of photos cover fishing in and around the Cornish coast. As part of the MemoryFish project we were able to digitise over 160 photos covering Newlyn (and Newlyn boats further afield), Newquay and Falmouth. From quarter-plate glass negatives to large prints, particular care had to be taken when handling these photographs. Glass negatives are very fragile, and some of the prints are well over a hundred years old.
